Last night we hosted our last official S.D.G. Jr. High and High School group at our house. S.D.G. stand for Soli Deo Gloria which translated from the Latin means "To God Alone Be the Glory." We started this group several years ago and by God's grace it has grown and we've seen some wonderful fruit.
It was very bittersweet for me last night to see all of these kids gathered together for worship, fellowship and fun as I will soon be on my way to Albuquerque. But through last night I was reminded of 1 Corinthians 3:5-7 "What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth." I am grateful that the Lord has allowed me to serve in this way as part of His purposes for these kids. It is my humble hope that I planted some seeds and I trust God that He will bring someone else to come and water with the hope that He will bring growth.
I will greatly miss these kids and words cannot adequately express this sentiment. As Martin Luther says, "There are two days -- today and that day." And in that day those who have repented and trusted in Christ alone for their salvation will be reunited around His throne to worship and enjoy Him forever. So the goodbyes here are not forever for those in Christ Jesus.
